Predicting above-median wine purchasers

In our group, each member tested a different classification method. I built and tuned a support vector machine that flags customers likely to spend above the median on wine, using demographics and purchase channels only, so the model never sees the spending it predicts.

Accuracy: 93.8%
Recall: 95.5%

REVENG: solar hand-crank torch

We took apart an emergency torch, built its bill of materials and analysed how each part is made. I ran a CES EduPack Eco Audit, and we redesigned it with a detachable casing and an upgraded LED and battery to make it easier to repair.

About

I like problems that sit between how people feel and how things work.

I’m Daisy, an MEng Design Engineering student at Imperial College London. My projects start with people, through surveys, interviews and my own experience, and end with something that works: a printed part, a tested prototype, a model that holds up on unseen data.

Outside my course I research digital health at HKU, have interned as a C# software engineer, and run competitions and hackathons for the Dyson School of Design Engineering.
